Best Bass in Pop Rock, week of 14Mar2005

There's a light at the end of this dark pop tunnel
I see light at the end of the tunnel of bubblegum pop/rock music. I see it here. The guitar enters with a very groovy bluesy distortion and a nice uplifting drumbeat with another guitar layered over that with that same upbeat feel. The lead vocalist is unlike anybody I have ever heard before. He's got a great rock quality, yet the tone and beauty of a classically trained singer. It's so wonderful to hear a voice like this in rock music. His high notes are just on the money and ring majestically. It is very intoxicating. The melody is superb in terms of its appeal and engaging-factor. The bass is subtle, not overpowering like I hear in a lot of tracks, and it just blends in perfectly moving the song along without impeding its growth or fighting with the other musical elements. In terms of production, I have no complaints, just compliments. Where was this recorded is what I want to know. It is mixed so well. That voice just stands out above the mix and I have worked a lot in the studio- that is a hard feat to accomplish, let me tell you. It seems simple, but it's not. It's always a battle between the band and the lead singer. But there is no battle here, just harmony. The song is thought provoking not just in its words, but in the mood that the voice and musical notes provokes. I really love it. I am so pleased to see independent music of such a high calibre, because independent music is the only hope real musicians have for the future...This sort of music needs recognition and it needs to start taking place of the manufactured junk we hear on the radio today. MANY PROPS TO YOU GUYS FOR AN EXCELLENT POP/ROCK SONG- TRUE TO ITS INDIE ROOTS, YET STILL APPROPRIATE FOR A MASS AUDIENCE!

lush and trippy
Very enjoyable tune. Excellent instrumental performances. Cool British feel and fantastic and varied guitar tones - love it! No gripes here - One of the best songs I've reviewed and you've topped some good bands. Best of luck!

rock
As with most songs I have heard in this genre there is a good instrumentation which leads to a rich overall sound. One instrument that I feel deserves extra credit in this track is the bass, it has a nice full tone and fits with the rhytm and the mood of the song perfectly, similarly I was particularly impressed withthe vocals, one thing which makes this song stand out from the crowd. Whoever produced this track should be proud of their achievments as this song is perfectly mixed and creates a certain ambience that only few can create. good work.

Best Chill-Out Track in Pop Rock, week of 14Mar2005

One cool tune
This is one good tune. I love the diversity it has within it. Solid and engaging drums and an excellent journey by the vocalist who sings some interesting and enjoyable lyrics with a voice that shows personality and conviction while still keeping a laid back feel! The production and mixing are well done and I really like the lead guitar, such a smooth, lazy feel.

Chilled!
Gotta agree, this is one of the most chilled down songs i have eber come across, loved the passages the guitarist plays, making the composition sound so dynamic, rhythmic, and above all, feelish. The guitar solo, was tastefully played, and the whole song has that extra pro edge about it, which makes me like it so much. Keep the good work up. All the best. I can see alot of mark knopfler influence in the guitar playing, correct me if i am wrong. I loved it!

Nice and jazzy
This has a cool jazzy feel going on, the guitars and bright and well played. Good bass and drums and clear vocals. Reminds me of Boz Scaggs from the seventies or Van Morrison. Great production and sweet hollow body guitar solo. Very good job.

Great feel!
This song has wonderfull ambience. A very melacholy, yet powerful sound. The lead vocal comes in smooth, clear and full of resinence. Every word is crystal clear, easy to understand, even with the emotion and movment used in the lead vocal. If that wasn't enough to get me going, the harmonies kick in and I'm sold! Beautifull backing vocals! Ok, so I'm ready to kick-back and enjoy the rest of the song and you hit me with a powerhouse of a lead guitar! Played with the emotion and inflection usually reserved for reference to vocals. I think the mix is excelent. There is every note where it belongs. Nothing overpowers anything else throughout the entire song. A wonderfull song if I do say so myself!

Interesting intro
I like the way the lyrics start with virtually no intro. The lead vocal is strong and up front. The style at times reminds me of John Lennon. It's very cool. I like where the voice sits in the mix. You "saved me" brother. Good Job!

we don't need no stinkin' whiskey to enjoy th..
Interesting intro immediately w/ vocals. Not often heard, but pleasent. The vocals have a distinct enjoyable character. Feeling lead vox & endearing subtle harmonies. Then I get to near the end of the song...Wow, waaay cool vocals...this is current folk rock? Where can I buy it & see a concert!
Acoustic guitar was quite fine enough for me, then I hear a sweet electric middle & crunchy back rhythm...ohh yeah!
Mix was wonderful. Balanced well, eq'd well & extraordinary aural surprises throughout. A long way from the New Christie Minstrels.
I for one am indeed impressed.

Best Beat in Rock, week of 2May2005

Nicely put together
Good idea with the intro.. I like the strumming and sustain of different chords with the vocalist singing slowly over it. Nice touch with the other guitar riffing in the background with that strange effect.. adds an ominous feel to the beginning of the song. It does a fine job of setting up for the explosion that comes next.. and what an explosion it is. Awesome range displayed by the singer once the full song kicks in. Very talented vocalist.. certainly puts emotion into the song. The weaving guitar parts are very powerful and creative and the drums carry the track nicely. I like the bass solo at about the 1:30 mark. Adds its own flare to that section of the song. Very well balanced, well rounded track. Nicely done.

Great Use of Guitar
Dark chords - great riffs -Dark Intro. Killer Production - one of the better songs that I've come across. Guitarist has great chops- drum beat is consistant, bass is booming. Great Job A-

Tight Musicians
This is a really clean, tight sounding band, keeping the metal power ballad alive. Hey, I can dig it! The lead singer has a good voice, and he pulls off the glam voice well. The 80's are comin back, man, and these dogs are on the front line, keepin it real. But this time, please, leave the spandex at home...
- thedankness from Colorado Springs, Colorado on 14Mar2005

Nice Tempo
Nice verse chorus definition. The overall melody is inviting. The song had a solid foundation. The guitar solo was nice and tasteful and really complimented the song. I really like the laid back “way” the song is and makes you feel when you are listening. At first I was unsure of the vocals in relationship to the music and its structure, but you won me over. The tinny acoustic guitar all the way through was great and it really cut through the mix well. The mix sounded balanced and easy on the ears. The sound envelope was treated well.
